I downloaded SSH's special Christian version, Thank you for all the work, SSH! He made a from scratch font himself and other stuff. I was wondering if I can put some finishing touches on it, like when it says something about Larry Vales in it or just XQXQXQ filler, when you start it up, instead I could put Bible verses so when Christians start it up, it will give them Bible verses or something. CJ says to ask in the forums in the help file. AGS is a powerful engine!

I hacked the AGS Editor exe with XVI32 by searching for the strings that pop up with a Unicode search. You can then use the editor to change it to strings of the same length with little risk, but if you start changing the lengths of strings you risk breaking the editor. Make sure you back things up before trying this. But, as Progz says, if you want bible verses, go and google for a free bible software... its not as if the splash screen is up for long.

Still, it's ethically incorrect to do this, unless you have the permission of the author, or it's written explicitly in the programme's documents that you can do that, or the programme is so aged that it falls into public domain and allows fair use. Also, CJ has voiced recently that he won't support hacked versions of his programmes.

First of all, I think one or more of you may have been too harsh on SSH. He has been kind and helpful when some others weren't.
So... I already downloaded the Christian version of the AGS Editor. Is it legal for me to keep it?
I have downloaded the XVI hex editor. Is it legal for me to replace text in the Christian version of the AGS Editor?
What do the wise people say?
What do the other Christians in this forum think?
There didn't seem to be any all rights reserved in the copyright notice, does that mean anything?
Maybe I should just wait and see if Mr. Jones will release a Christian version...
I can be debugging my own Adventure engine in the meantime...

Santiago, seriously I'm a Christian also but this is utter nonsense. The Christian version of the editor? Having that font and/or MP3 support does not make the editor 1) illegal, 2) unethical, 3) immoral, or 4) send you to Hell when you die because you looked at the font.
SSH was kind enough to provide you with a modified EXE in the hopes that perhaps this foolish reign of terror would come to an end. Clearly it has not. I honestly don't know if you're trying to be serious or if you're just shooting for the 2009 Annual Attention Whore/AGS Troll-of-the-Year Award.
There is absolutely no need for the subtitles on the splash screen to be replaced with quotes from the Bible. It's absurd to request such a thing. Let me ask you this, does your web-browser have a special feature which pops up a Bible quote for every page you view? Does it replace all Google Ads with Jesus Tags? That might be a bit sacrilegious, but that's between me and my God.
There's nothing wrong with being Christian. There's nothing wrong with believing in and loving God. But when you become so extremist as demanding that someone provide you a version of the editor with all non-religious text replaced with Bible quotes...I just don't know what to say to that.
You know, I'm just reminded of religious suicide bombers. They believe that what they are doing is right. To them, what they are doing is pleasing to their God. But how could a loving God demand the mindless slaughtering of innocent civilians? I'm not trying to make this a religious debate, however when you go around flinging your own beliefs in everyone's faces and telling them how wrong they all are and how they're all going to burn in Hell because AGS doesn't have quotes from the Bible?
I'm not perfect. I know my own sins. But honestly Santiago...I pity you.

Not polite. You should have *at least* the author's agreement with your plan anyway. Then I still really do not understand the purpose of your mission...

Santiago, let me tell you a bit of advice:
The problem is not your religion, the problem is the way you choose to write your posts here. You already understand that even christians (at least two) do not like what you are saying. So you could achieve everything that you want, without ramblings and fuss by not telling people that you are a christian.
Examples:
1) Instead of saying that you do not want to commit sins, you can say: I would like to have a clean version of AGS because I donīt feel comfortable with the idea of breaking rules. 2) Instead of calling "Christian Version" you could call it "AGS Purity" Version, the name that SSH wrote in his blog. 3) Instead of asking "How can I put some bible quotes...', you can say: "I would like to put some motivational/fun quotes..."
That way you would avoid everything that you are reading here.
But, perhaps, you are far more intelligent than you wrote in the other post and all this discussion is exactly what you want?
