Netto Yarooze!

Hatter's Guild (BaRoN) and Netto Yarooze (Yarooze) proudly present our new game:

Besieged. Or how to get out of a castle...
...without being catapulted.

The King has been besieged for weeks in his castle, and the garrison doesn't have a rat left to eat.  In desperation, a plan is hatched to launch a hero over the enemy lines -by catapult! -to try and get help.  Of course everybody shirks the task off onto someone lower down the medieval hierarchy, and the buck stops at the lowly Dung Shoveler.  Now the Dung Shoveler must break the siege, or be catapulted!

resolution: 320x240
length: short game
theme: medieval adventure
violence: medieval level  Grin
Low-res nudity: this time very limited.  Roll Eyes

progress:
animations: 100%
backgrounds: 100%
plot: 100%
puzzles: 100%
music: Funkmast will honestly make the cool medieval music  Cool

will be finished: November 2008
We are confident that this game will be released this coming weekend, probably sometime between Friday November 28 and Saturday November 29, depending on your time zone.

Are we cool or what?  Cool

-----------Here is the update:
I'm so sloooooowwwww...  Embarrassed

We're on schedule: only a few dialogues to write/polish and some GUIs to fix up.  This means that we will be requiring the services of 2-3 beta testers by the end of the week.  Experience is an asset, discretion a must.  English language skills would be nice (for proofreading).  This is a short game so the time commitment we need from the successful applicant(s) will be somewhere in the 2-4 hour range during the week of November 7-14ish.  Interested parties should rave about the project in this thread and/or PM BaRoN directly before November 6th.

I love it! The whole story book illuminated style looks nice in any game. Can't wait to play either of your interesting endeavors Yarooze. Real free to check my projects too if you want. I'm working on several but the only one announced so far is King's Quest VI which will be made in two versions the original with updates, and the Plus version.

We rocketh?
We actually studied paintings and tapestries from the 11th-15th century to help develop the style of the game.  Visually it's the most complex project I've worked on to date.  We've had a long time to refine the plot to perfection as well -this game has been in the works off and on for almost  a year now.  Add in Funkmast's music and I think it will be a real treat to play.

Aw, shucks....  Smiley
I promise the same humour level as my previous games, but don't expect a lengthy outing this time.  Fatherhood has really cut into the time I can devote to game creation.

cool stuff, but what about that porn game?

Fear not!  Besieged is well advanced as a project and will not long distract Yarooze from his other..... endeavours.   It was omitted from the original post, but the scripting for this game is also around 98% accomplished and a stable beta version exists.  It is only due to the amount of time we are both devoting to other projects -in AGS and the real world - that we have left ourselves another month to release it.

I was already wondering whether fatherhood prevented you from making more games - but luckily for us it hasn't completely Wink

And might I add this looks incredible? Kudos on the visual style, especially the tapestry look of that title screen.

We have changed the look of the game several times. From real look over early medieval tapestry to medieval books/fairy tales look... Wink
We studied several medieval free time activities to make the game more authentic and looked Monty Python's films to be inspired...  Grin
I redraw some backgrounds completely 3-5 times until we were happy with them...  Cool

The story had also been changed at least once...  Roll Eyes

I'll have to second that about the font - wasn't there a medieval pixel font in the SCI font pack that could suit this game?

edit: I just remembered a font that is medieval and still pretty readable at 320x200/240 resolution: http://www.fontspace.com/pheist/heinzheinrich
