The lesson to know is that Hardware doesn't matter that much. What's really important is the software. If the software does not take advantage of the hardware techonolgy, then the hardware will fail. Just take a game like... Halo, for example. Who would have bought a big bulky ugly XBOX if that game hadn't come out? After all, Microsoft is big because of software (unfortunately... but that's another rant). This is why the dreamcast failed, since it didn't have some super awesome kickass game that everyone talked about.

If nintendo pulls off some excellent games taking advantage of the technology, you'll see that Microsoft and Sony will be releasing new controllers in the next two years.

I'm also tired of Nintendo's recycled-game-buzines. They're rereleasing Mario World on the GBA, they're rereleasing Super Mario Bros. on the GBA. FUCK YOU, Nintendo! I finished those games before I had pubes. I don't feel like buying them again. Make me happy and make a NEW Mario game for the gba.

You don't have to buy them, you know.  They were made for the (probably) thousands of people who really do want another version of these games.  Just because you don't want them doesn't mean that they don't make somebody happy. Plus they are making a new Mario game... for the Revolution and the DS anyways...

Nintendo could let people download their games for free. EVERYBODY would buy a Revelution if they get free games. But there are 3 reasons why they won't.
1: They want money
2: They want money
3: They don't want to overload the servers. (They could do it like HotU, one download at a time and an ultra slow downloadspeed, but they want money)

Those bastards!  They remind me of the complete asses down at my local used games store who refuse to just GIVE me all their old Nintendo games.  I think the only reason they wont do it is because they want money.

Seriously, I don't know of a lot of companies who would just give away a product that they could sell.  Not to mention that most of those games aren't even Nintendo's to give away.  Do you think Capcom or Konami would be happy if people could just freely download the games that they made? (Well, download LEGALLY...) There are liscense fees to be paid.  We wouldn't just be downloading them for free, Nintendo would be paying for them.

And you don't even know the price.  It could end up being like ten bucks for 50 games... who knows what pricing model they're going to use.  Just hold off your anger until you know more.

Oh, and again... no one is forcing you to buy them.  Nintendo is offering a service that a lot of people will be interested in, not forcing it upon us.

Airplanes, helicopters, cranes and cars all still have wheel and joystick controll. You dont need 3d controllers to play a 3d game on a 2d tv.

No, you don't NEED a 3d controller.  But it COULD be really fun...

Nope, Konami just announced one though.  It's a peripheral for the PSP game Metal Gear Ac!d 2.  Unless you're thinking of something else.  And I wouldn't count one out of the picture for the Revolution.  Who knows what kind of wacky uses we'll see for that port at the bottom of the control.

Those stearingwheels for computers look great, but nobody ever got a faster racing time by using a stearing wheel with rumblepack instead of using a d-pad.

I doubt the accuracy of this statement.  But ignoring that, steering wheel peripherals have never been about making you better at racing games.  They're about immersement and fun.  Similarly, Nintendo didn't make this new controller to make you more adept at racing games (or other genres), though that may well turn out to be the case.  Nintendo made this controller to make the games more fun.


Oh, and on the subject of sex toys.  I wouldn't write it off until I've tried it, but the remote control's dimensions make it look a little uncomfortable.  I'd much rather try out the sleek PS2 controller.  That is... if it were anatomically possible...

Besides, there have already been much better forays into the field of game controller sex toys...

They had to buy those games first. And the profit that they make for selling a game is not even enough to buy two happymeals. They are the middle man. Nintendo is the top dog. There aren't even production costs for old software (except for the guy you have to pay for pressing Ctrl-C Ctrl-V). All the the money they would make if you buy and download a game goes straight to Mario's side pocket.

We are talking about playing first and second generation games on a fifth generation consolle. This isn't a service for gamers, buy a cold bussines plan for easy money. Sorry if I don't share your enthusiasm.

What about the companies that are now belly up? Will Nintendo make them free to download, since those are not their games in the first place? You can bet your 100 gold coins they won't.

I don't want things to get ugly over this. As far as I'm concerned this is a great controller. It will certainly make Rev the weapon of choice for FPS's. The feedback from people who have playtested is incredibly positive, and this looks like it could provide some really, really interesting gameplay concepts and such.

I really just didn't like your arguments (it's like a sextoy, they 'dare' to charge tiny fees to download old games... I for one will be willing to pay a few quid to get Chrono Trigger or the like), because they don't seem to have any real, solid, respectable logic to them. If you're going to say something is crap, I must say that you are the one who needs to post a proper opinion.

Haha.  I'm sorry if I ever sound too aggressive in one of these debates.  I just love discussions about video games... I'm such a nerd.  And it makes me sad when someone just immediately pooh-poohs something different without having tried it first.  Sure, it may suck, but it might also be really cool... and then you'd feel dumb.

And regarding the pricing of the legacy Nintendo library, Flippy was right, I was suggesting ten bucks for fifty games, not "ten to fifty bucks" per game.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the games.  I just don't see anyway that it would make good business sense for them to give away Konami or Capcom (don't know why I'm picking on those companies) games when they would have to undoubtably pay a liscense fee to offer them for download.  However, I would LOVE to see them offer first party games, games made by defunct companies, or at least some good selection of games availiable for free.  Kind of a "Thank you for buying our console!" thing.  And we'll just have to see.  They could be really nice, they could be really mean, or they could just have a business model that makes sense.  Again, just hold off your anger until you have an actual reason.

And remember, just because Nintendo is selling a vibrator, doesn't mean you have to use it.

They should re-release NES and SNES instead, I have so many working NES carts, but no working console! And don't you even dare to mention emulators, nothing beats playing real NES attached to television.

The new controller does look a bit like sextoy, but I guess I can't judge it as I haven't tried it. It looks like it could be good, but who knows? At least it's innovative and interesting, I hope it turns out to be best of the best.
