Escaping from a prison is never easy. But doing it with a correctional officer's consent is even harder. Officer Matthew Holmstett is a walking, talking regulation book and has his own set of ideals. Getting him to do what you want won't be an easy task. Don't overdo it, or you may find yourself handcuffed to a radiator very fast. Nobody trusts someone convicted for murder that easily after all...

Recommended for mature audiences only.

AGS Panel review for this game:
The AGS Review Panel has left a comment about this game:
Very enjoyable, but would benefit from (1) an original soundtrack (2) the tightening of a few puzzles and (3) improved pacing.
Only the multiple endings prevent Reactor 9 from being classed as a Short Game.

Honestly, without exaggeration, this is one of my favorite games that I've ever played, AGS or no. Even with its relatively short length, I was completely drawn into the story and I really cared about the characters by the end. I was actually sad when it was over. Best of all, I found the puzzles challenging but completely intuitive (yes, even the infamous "level measuring device" part). Others may not have had the same experience, but personally every solution made sense to me logically and I never had to just try randomly using items from the inventory until one bizarre combination worked. The "trust meter" was also a really unique and cool element, adding depth to the story. The graphics were fantastic too.

The effect this game had on me was so strong that I registered in the forums just to post this comment! I won't be able to get it out of my head for a long time. Bravo, Bernie.

REALLY liked this one! Really wish it had been a bit longer! Excellent. I especially liked the story!

Someone suggested this game so I gave it a try. I was very happy with it! The story was interesting and involved, though it felt a little short if not incomplete. The teamwork system was very original and I'd like to see a full length game take advantage of it. I was also pleased with the different endings, and the good ending was a worthwhile reward. My one complaint was with the difficulty of the measuring device puzzle, but every other puzzle was very well designed. The newspapers were also hidden just about right.

This game, along with Bernie's other adventure game projects, is exactly what the AGS scene needs: Mature, cohesive and playable. A definite highlight!

Excellent game, graphics and game play are quite different from any other.

Great! Reminded me of Beneath a steel sky. It's a shame it's so short. I'd really like to see full length games from Bernie.

Just amazing! The scenario and atmosphere really dragged me to finish it with 4 endings. One of the best AGS games!

This is a great game - just difficult enough to keep you interested. I also loved the concept of having to keep the officer sweet while solving the puzzles - kind of a double challenge!

One of the best AGS games by far. Good story, excellent endings, well-thought out puzzles, and good music and graphics!

Fantastic game. Love Bernie's approuch to a more serious game (not that I don't also love kitties and large headed elf things).

This is a great game! Intriguing story, well-integrated puzzles, beautiful graphics and great music - its got it all! And its one of the few games I replayed just to get the best ending. :)

Great game!

This had it all, what I enjoy probably the most at the moment about AGS games: good gameplay, interesting story, intuitive interface, stylish graphics and moderate playing time.

A really good game! It is not very often that I play a game more than once just to see the different outcommings!
