This time a rumour has reached the royal court that a dragon is pestering the country side. The king sends out Melrin to investigate.
To solve the many puzzles that exist in this game you need to create magic spells and combine many inventory items.
The GUI is simular to the earlier games. You have your magic bowl in which you mix items to create the spells that you can read about in your Book of Spells. You also have a magic map, look at it (right click) to use it.

Posted by madmanmunt on 2005-01-16 at 19:07 (IP logged): Melrin 3 combines the attractive graphics of the second game with the freedom to explore large areas of the first game to create a fine result. Although it is not as good as the exceptional first Melrin game, Melrin 3 is an excellent piece of work nonetheless.
Along with the spell book and cauldron with which to create spells that was introduced in the second Melrin game, this time Melrin also has a magic map which allows him access to any place the minute he hears about it. This was an excellent idea and meant that there were more places to explore than on the weaker second Melrin installment.
All in all, Melrin 3 is a lesson in learning through trial and error. The author has clearly learned which elements worked best in the first two games and which didn't work quite so well, then used this knowledge to create a successful amalgam of the two. While my heart will always belong to Melrin 1, I nonetheless recommend this game extremely highly as well.
