AGS Panel review for this game:
The AGS Review Panel has left a comment about this game:
This first entry into the Ben Jordan series lacks some of the polish of the later entries (hence the deluxe version). It is also the shortest, but Grundislav's enthusiasm carries through to make the game enjoyable.

I found the puzzles logical, yet utterly unchallenging, although that might be in part due to the fact that I played through the Deluxe version first. The graphics, as in the rest of the early Ben Jordan series, critique themselves without need of further comment.

Again, I'd recommend it, if for no other reason than that it is part of a series that becomes positively awesome later on.

Awesome... one of my favs from this site!

I have decided to play all the Ben Jordan series. It's only from the 3rd episode that I start liking them. The story in this one doesn't appeal to me and there is not much of an interesting plot or satisfying ending. Not bad for a start though..

Hmmm... where should I begin ?

This game has something that reminds me of a Scooby-Doo Cartoon - at least the story could easily be found in one.

The music in this game is really good, but the backgrounds and sprites couldn't provide a scary or mysterious mood. The puzzles are very easy and there are to few items to interact with.

If you are happy with an interactive 20minute Cartoon- Rip-Off then this is a game for you - but IMHO it can not count as a serious adventure game.

A nice little game. Introduces some good characters and is quite atmospheric.

Real cool game.

Heh, nice one.

Didn't like the backgrounds much though, but that's a question of personal taste. The puzzles were logic, sometimes a chunk too logic (one hint --> one solution).

The story was really captivating, for that short amount of time i've spent playing, I was really surprisend how athmospheric the game had gotten.

And there's definitely no campfire more cozy than the one from Monkey Island 2, or is there? :)

Quite nice game here.
The highlight is the final puzzle. Some spelling errors (ie. Onforunetly etc). The art is ok though the backgrounds are perhaps too blur-ish.

I absolutely adore the Ben Jordan games. They are so utterly charming, they are like your favourite Saturday morning kid's cartoon. The chronicles of a likable young ex-student who has become a paranormal investigator, these games are just lush.

To begin with, Ben Jordan is a great character to play. He is a brave but sensitive, wholly likable guy. This is the first of his adventures and it rocks. Although it is short, the story streches across a number of locations and after completing it the feeling is exactly like having just watched a new episode of your favourite 20 minute Saturday morning cartoon. The character's Ben meets are great, especially the naive hippy who is obsessed with everything to do with nature. SPOILER: Ranger Rick's transformation into a thieving crazy, dissillusioned with the job he feigns satisfaction with, was by far one of the most surprising and amusing twists I've stumbled across in an AGs game SPOILER END.

Aside from the great plot which makes the short game seem positively epic, the graphics in Ben Jordan are just magical. Little touches like the Pink Floyd poster on Ben's bedroom wall are great and scenes like... SPOILER: Ben and Ranger Rick sat talking round the campfire SPOILER END... are so evocative you are totally there with them.

The minute I finished Ben Jordan 1 I went straight to download the second one. Play this short classic and you too could become a dedicated Ben Jordan fan.

Ooo, I loved this game, especially the music. I hope there end up being 50 cases or so hehe.

Great game despite it's length. Would really like to see it expand.
