Posted by Alun Clewe on 2005-06-22 at 22:42 (IP logged): I don't agree with Redmax that this game is completely hopeless--I think the plot shows potential, and there are some funny bits. However, I certainly do agree about the bugs. This game, as it stands, is unplayable. Literally. Was this beta-tested at all? It couldn't have been, because there's no way the beta testers could not have noticed that the game cannot be completed. The Food Mart is a trap. Even if you do manage to get in in such a way so you're standing on a walkable area (which is possible, but quite difficult), there's still no way to leave. (Nor is there anything at all to interact with there--no hotspots, no objects, no nothing. And I checked the uncompiled game files, which were (inadvertently?) included in the zip, so I know I wasn't just missing something.)
Maybe there's nothing needed from the Food Mart anyway (though I doubt that's the case); I didn't go through the game files in enough detail to figure out exactly what was supposed to have happened. But I'm pretty sure the police station is a place you have to visit. And we've got the same situation here--you can't leave! Even if you manage to click with the right object on just the right tiny spot (and--and I'm being purposely vague here to try to avoid spoilers--why is it you have to use the object on the door, anyway, when it's the person behind the window who wanted it?) and get into the sherriff's office, there's no way back out. Or rather, there is, but then you're stuck in a non-walkable area in the police station entry and can't do anything but re-enter the sherriff's office.
I actually am curious to see the rest of this game. I want to know how the plot turns out. I want to play it through. But as it stands, I can't, because there are game-killing bugs that make it unplayable. Fix it. Please.
Posted by Redmax on 2005-06-16 at 16:39 (IP logged): I hate giving a game a very low rating because good effort should be encouraged, but I can't help give this the lowest of lowest, because there really was no effort, or talent, in this game at all. First of all, I couldn't complete the game due to bugs. For some reason, whenever I try to get into the Police Station or the Food Store, the main character either disappears from the screen or he appears inside a wall. In both cases, the character can no longer exit these places so the game stops. In the early portion of the game, when things still work, the graphics are appaling and the midi songs that play in the background can get on your nerves quickly for being repetitive and lack quality. Still, this would be bearable if the game had a nice plot and humorous dialogue... which isn't the case. The dialogue is bland and the "narrator" text is arrogant and tries really hard to be funny by insulting Adventure game stereotypes. Maybe some people will find that amusing, but I, for one, didn't. Considering what's being offered here, which is a "no effort" and "no talent" game, I can only give an Overall score of 1 out of 5.

Posted by Mr.Panda on 2002-09-01 at 18:14 (IP logged): Just a little note by the creator. This game is being remade as we speak, and this version will go out of "print" if you will. download while you still can!!!!1!!1!
