System Requirements for Making Games
Ideally you'll be running Windows 2000, XP or Vista. The AGS
Editor will also run on Windows 98, but some features are not available
if you do so.
You also need to have the
.NET Framework 2.0 (or later) installed in order to run the editor. The installer will
tell you if you don't have this and need to download it.
System Requirements for Playing Games
Games you create will run on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and Vista.
They require DirectX 5 or later (DirectX 9 is required to use the hardware
accelerated graphics driver).
The .NET framework is not required by people playing your
games.

Note that AGS 3.0 can only upgrade existing games built with 2.72. If you have a
game built with an earlier version, please download AGS 2.72 from the link
further down this page and use that to upgrade your game first.
Download for Linux
A Linux port of the AGS
game engine is available. This allows you to run all AGS games created with v2.5
and later, and is maintained by Shawn Walker.
This does not include a Linux version of the AGS Editor. Currently you
can only play games on Linux, not create them.
Download for MacOS X 10.4
A Mac port of the AGS
game engine is
currently in
beta. It only supports OSX 10.4 and later, and should allow you to run AGS games created with v2.5
and later. It is maintained by Steve McCrea.
This does not include a Mac version of the AGS Editor. Currently you can
only play games on MacOS, not create them.
Previous version
You can download
AGS 2.72 (3.71 MB) if you need to upgrade old games prior to using AGS
3.
